About me
My name is Chris and I'm the editor of this website. In fact I not only edit it, I also write all the content, make the links work, find stuff to put on it, maintain it and promote it. I also clean the office when that time is due again, which is a bit too often to my liking (and not enough to my wife's).
I'm a Belgian resident and I speak Dutch (Flemish, actually). I also speak French and English, and a smittering of German and Spanish. I'm married since 19..... (let me think) ...92, that's it, with a daughter going on 18 who's learning to drive and has a cat.
I'm fascinated by all things web. I'm constantly in awe of all the information that is available and the use that this is being put to. I strongly believe the age of secrets is one that we're leaving behind us, and that the new order of things will be one based on truth and - yes - crowd wisdom. I'll be putting some links on the site which are in no way at all related to its subject, but which may interest you as a fellow human being who loves to discover some of the good and/or interesting things that are going on.
Thanks for visiting, if you have a question, a suggestion, a remark or if you simply want to say hello, get in touch.
About this site
It all started when I had to arrange a website for my spouse's business, a fashion boutique, a few years ago. The 1st site was not very nice, was rather difficult to work with, needed a lot of maintenance, and cost more than €1000. Some time later we changed it to look more professional, and that was achieved with the help of Joomla CMS. I'm aware that Joomla is a very powerful tool if you can master it, but frankly I did not like it one bit. Main reason for that was the disconnect between the content items and their position on the site. And it cost close to €1000 again.
1 or 2 years later I chanced upon a web building tool called Weebly (can't remember how I found it). I immediately liked the idea to make version 3 of my wife's website, which I did, and I've never looked back since. I still manage, maintain and update that site, and I've since discovered that there's lots of similar programmes available, in addition to Weebly. But if you want to find information about any of these, it's hard to find a source of reliable, up-to-date and complete information.
That's how this site came to be. I want it to be primarily a site where you can find everything you need to help you make your own website. This is achieved by trying out all the builders myself, so I can give you a first-hand account of my findings. In addition to the builders, the site will also be a repository of other useful information of how to make sure your site performs, and which tools you can use to make it better.
I make no excuses for being completely and unreservedly subjective. The reviews reflect my personal opinion and my personal opinion only, if you don't like it there's only 1 pianist to shoot at.
I hope you will like it though, and possibly even contribute.
I wish you well on your own voyage of wonderful internet discovery.
Have a nice day,
Chris Couck
